Project: "I am what I am"
“The dualities of different cultures that permeate me, are firstly orientated
towards spirituality, and the other towards materiality, which jointly enrich my artistic impulse. I seek to communicate through ritual and/or spiritual gesture, an emotional experience which refers to a universe beyond our visual perception, in relation to the immensity of the cosmos and its mystery present within us. The statuary representations of the Gods or of great symbolic values such as freedom and the Republic are for me a source of creative impulses. Working with ephemeral materials creates a space of poetic thoughts
between reality and dream: an image based on intuition, reflecting through my works the question of identity, the controversies, and questions it arouses. Through my installations around “I am what I am”, I question the binary relationships between Exteriority and Interiority, Materiality and Spirituality, Nature and Culture. Through my gesture, which consists of absenting the subject from a statue, for example, by covering it with flowers, I try to make people perceive the differences of the “I am”s which are hidden under the same deictic, the same pronoun.
